The marketing field has changed a lot since the beginning of the decade. Its subject matter hasn't changed: marketing is still concerned with the exchange of value between buyers and sellers. The way and mobility of the systems that enable transactions pose serious challenges. More recently, the Internet has evolved into a dynamic medium for disseminating transactions between customers and businesses in virtual marketplaces. Broadly, electronic commerce (e-commerce) can be defined as "all forms of economic activity conducted over electronic connections. E-commerce can take many forms, including: business to business, business to consumer, or government to voter. Internet retail focuses on consumer purchases of goods and services, the discussion below refers only to this aspect of e-commerce.
